Privacy and terms

World of Trade is a free educational app about physical commodity trading. It is run by Giorgio Bonetta, Via Martiri di Piazza Loggia 1, 25025 Manerbio (BS), Italy, who is the data controller. Questions or requests: giorgio.bonnybonetta@gmail.com.

What is stored, and why

The app stores the minimum information needed for the account, learning progress and optional social features:

• Your email address and password. They identify your account so your progress can follow you to another device. Authentication is handled by Supabase; the password is hashed by them and is never visible to this app or to us.
• Your progress. Which lessons you completed, experience points, accuracy per lesson, badges, day streak, answer streak, and which exercises you got wrong so they can be brought back for review.
• Competitive profile. If you use League or Friends features, the app stores the public trader alias you choose, Trading House, weekly XP, referral code, accepted World of Trade friendships, and head-to-head challenge results. Your email is not displayed on leaderboards.

No real name, employer, payment details, precise location or device fingerprint is requested by the app.

What is not done

• No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising, no profiling.
• No cookies are set for advertising tracking. The app uses your browser's local storage to keep progress, session state, tutorial state and pending referral information on the device.
• LinkedIn is only used as a sharing/login channel when you choose it. World of Trade does not import or infer your LinkedIn connection list for the Friends League.
• Your data is never sold, and never shared with anyone except the processor named below.

Where it is stored

Account data and progress are held by Supabase, acting as processor, in the Ireland (eu-west-1) region. The site itself is served by Vercel, which processes the technical request data any web server sees, including IP address, to deliver the page and protect against abuse.

Legal basis and retention

The data is processed to perform the service you asked for when creating the account. It is kept until you ask for the account to be deleted, or until the service is shut down.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, its correction, or its deletion, at the contact address above. Deleting the account removes the progress record with it. If you are in the EU or Switzerland you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

No account is required to play: without one the game runs on this device only and nothing about you reaches the server. An account exists so the career can follow you to another device, and the optional League, referral and head-to-head features can be left alone even when you have one.

Terms of use

The service is provided as it is, with no warranty, and may change or stop at any time. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself.

This is educational material, not advice

Everything here is written to teach the mechanics of physical commodity trading. It is not trading, investment, legal, tax or accounting advice, and it is not a recommendation to trade anything.

Prices, cargoes, counterparties and calculations in the exercises are illustrative and simplified for teaching. They are not market data and they do not model any real market. Real contracts are governed by their own wording, the applicable charterparty and the applicable law, and these differ from the general cases described here. Nothing in this app should be relied on for a commercial decision.

Hélène Marchand is a fictional character created for the app. She is not a real person and the quotations attributed to her are written for teaching.
